My First Love

If you're reading this then your not too late and neither was I.

Ever since I was a kid, I had a passion for all things reading and writing. I would carry around a stack of books filled with Nancy Drew novels and Cam Jansen mysteries, and made it my mission to finish them before the summer ended. Reading fed my imagination, so it only made sense that, eventually, I would want to do the same for someone else.

The first book I ever wrote was on a little app called Wattpad. My eyes had found the 'Write' icon and a shock had fallen over me. I could... write?! It didn't take long before I clicked it, with a single idea in mind. That idea turned into a finished book, that has now reached thousands of people across the globe, with over 300 thousand reads.

Absolutely insane!

But listen, I'm not just baffled because of the number. What really gets me is that my younger self took the leap immediately. No hesitation. I didn't overthink it. I was too excited at the prospect of making an idea of mine exist. Sometimes, doing the thing that you've been dreaming about may seem frightening, foreign or far out of reach. But it isn't so. If you have an idea, that means it's possible. Once you can imagine it, you can begin to create it.

And it truly takes one step. Starting.

You may be holding onto someone's comfort book or a character that speaks to them. Let alone the next bestseller or a world so intricate that all the others pale in comparison. Entering your Author Era means taking action, even if it's just a step, towards something great. I returned to my first love, and now I'm back writing again, this time with much better grammar and story lines (lol). If it weren't for my younger self, I might still be questioning whether or not I could be an author. But now I don't have to ask, and that's all because I started. And you can too.

The mission of MAE is to not only help writer's fall deeply in love with writing, but to foster a mindset revolved around the beauty of creating.

Remember that your ideas deserve to exist. Let them.

We got this. <3 - Tamara
